Letters from a small, beleagured group of fans in Bela Crkva, Vojvodina, Serbia began arriving at publications ranging from the Australian SF Bullsheet to the journal of the Washington (DC) Science Fiction Association. By this time, Yugoslavia was down to just Serbia and Montenegro, and what had been a reasonably healthy sf community had fallen to bits along with the country. This group, Faros, had formed in 1996 in an effort to get things restarted. Their existence is attested as late as the summer of 2000, but after that, the Web falls silent on the topic. Where are they now?

Unfortunately, no one was much interested in helping out, not even after he made nice with the personality cult of his late half-brother, now St. Edward the Martyr, making his feast day a national holiday and everything. The Vikings would return in 1009 for another round of looting and pillaging.
